Why can “constipation” occur?
A change in eating habits and dietary composition (due to a swallowing disorder), reduced physical activity, an increase in time spent sitting or lying down (both caused by muscle weakness), and changes in intra-abdominal pressure (caused by weakness of the abdominal wall muscles) lead to an increased likelihood of constipation. To prevent and treat constipation, it is important to consider and address these specific, individual factors.
