On June 4, 2026, APST celebrated its 15th anniversary in Berlin. The highlight of the anniversary event was the inaugural presentation of the “APST First Mover Awards.” These awards honored medical and care partners who have supported APST from the very beginning and played a key role in shaping the platform’s development.
The award recipients embody the pioneering spirit, openness, and collaboration that have characterized APST since its founding. The honorees were Dr. Torsten Grehl from the Alfried Krupp Hospital in Essen, Dr. Ute Weyen from the Bergmannsheil University Hospital of the German Workers’ Compensation Association in Bochum, Falk Schurich from Rehaform in Stralsund, Frank Leder from TalkTools in Berlin, Beatrice Wenzel-Peagelow from AktivPhysio in Berlin, and Filip Lisicki and Marijo Zupanovic from physioup in Berlin.
Since the launch of the APST Portal on March 15, 2011, APST has evolved into a central platform for care management and medical research for people with ALS, SMA, and other neuromuscular disorders. As of June 2026, a total of 20,157 people with complex neurological disorders had received care through the platform. Among other achievements, 414,478 care processes were successfully completed. Today, more than 250 partners from the fields of assistive devices and medical supplies, pharmacies, and nutrition and respiratory care teams are involved in providing care.
The award ceremony took place during a boat tour through downtown Berlin. Together with medical and care partners, APST looked back on 15 years of collaboration. In conversations with host Kati Gallus, the group discussed developments in healthcare, the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, and future challenges.
The founders of APST, Christoph Münch and Thomas Meyer, thanked everyone who has supported APST over the past 15 years. They extended special thanks to the platform’s first users, whose early commitment paved the way for its current development.
For 15 years, APST has stood for innovation, collaboration, and the shared goal of continuously improving care for people with severe neurological disorders. The APST First Mover Awards highlight that this journey has only been possible thanks to the trust and commitment of many partners.
