Temporary unavailability of the APST portal and the ALS and SMA apps

Temporary Unavailability of the APST Portal and the ALS and SMA Apps

Dear participants in the APST Network,

We would like to inform you of a current technical issue affecting the APST Portal as well as the ALS app and SMA app.

Due to a serious security vulnerability in the PHP programming language, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin took its websites and affected IT systems offline this morning (October 21, 2026) as a precautionary measure.

This security measure also affects the APST portal, as well as the ALS app and SMA app, since their respective databases are hosted on a Charité server.

What does this mean for you?

As of this morning, it is no longer possible to register on the APST Portal or via the ALS and SMA apps. The relevant applications are therefore temporarily unavailable.

When will the applications be available again?

The Charité’s IT department is already working with high priority to install the necessary security updates and patch the vulnerability.

We currently expect that the APST Portal, as well as the ALS app and SMA app, will be accessible again starting tomorrow, Thursday, October 22, 2026.

We appreciate your understanding regarding this temporary restriction. As soon as we have new information regarding the restoration of the systems, we will notify you accordingly.
